My watermelon baby

So today, my baby and I attended a costume party of my friends baby brother. This was the first costume party my baby was attending and I wanted it to be the BOMB.

You can probably tell that I'm not the "mellow" kind of girl. I like to think outside the box. I like to make things special. I hate those boring repeated things. I like to think BIG.

I like that boom boom pow, Them chickens jackin my style. They try to copy my swagger, I'm on that next shit now. You are probably wondering why I wrote the Black Eyes Peas song down, well I'm just cool like that. And the song got stuck in my head.

Moving on,

I was thinking and thinking what my baby's costume would be. There were so much options! Superman? Batman? Sailor? Mickey Mouse? Stitch form the movie Lilo and Stitch? Nah, those are too overplayed. Then I came across the perfect costume for my baby!

A watermelon costume! Who would have thought?? I mean, I see a lot of strawberry costume, apple, banana. But watermelon?! It was perfect.

Isn't this costume for girls, you may ask? A watermelon is a fruit. Fruits are neutral. LOL, just another excuse for mommy to dress up her baby boy!

Where did I buy the costume? I got it at an online Facebook store called MommysList (here's the link: ) They have a website ( ) but it will be available around August 2013.

MommysList have the cheapest costumes, compared to other stores, I've seen so far! They also have great customer service! The owners name is Malou and she always reply to my annoying questions and etc! She also has a great personality and is easy to talk with. If you don't get a fast reply via Facebook message, you can text her and she replies faster via phone messaging. I made my final order last Wednesday, paid on Thursday morning (cutoff time was 1pm) and got the costumes Saturday! I would have gotten it last Friday but the courier got lost looking for my house. LOL. She also has a lot of different products too!

I also bought a romper as a gift to the celebrant, it was so cute!

Here we are preparing to go to the party! My baby is happy with the costume!

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned!

This post will be the crappiest post I'll ever post. Haha, get it?

My first experience with :

☀☀When your gut (intestines) becomes infected with the parasite Entamoeba histolytica (often shortened to E. histolytica), the condition is known as amoebiasis.

I arrived home from Aklan last June 28, wanting to surprise my brother for his birthday. On the way to Kalibo Airport, I was already feeling dizzy from the car (I get car sick). I thank Kalibo Int'l airport for having a breastfeeding station cause my baby was crying and crying and couldn't sleep! My head was aching so bad! On the plane going to Cebu, the baby wouldn't sleep and he was feeling very uncomfortable. I get airplane sick too. Lucky me.

I was finally able to sleep for 30mins. at home when I reached Cebu when my brother came in the room and screamed, "you're here! I can't believe it, this is the best birthday ever!!" Urgh. The baby woke up smiling while I woke up with a head ache.

We had dinner at Casa Verde that night and when we got home, I was vomiting like crazy! That was around 9pm, my headache cleared though. I fell asleep and woke up at 11 with high fever. I couldn't breathe because of the heat of my body! I drank some Ibuprofen and fell asleep after 30 mins.

I woke up at 5AM the following morning at had the urge to go to the toilet. My poop was wet at that time. 10 minutes after, I had to go again, this time it was liquid coming out. I pooped and pooped liquid again every half hour or so and I was very dehydrated. My dad bought me 10 bottles of Gatorade to try to rehydrate me.

My dad called my OB at 7pm cause I couldn't think straight anymore, I don't even remember my dad calling her. She gave me a prescription of Loperamide, to help stop the pooping (I had to take this everytime I pooped, take it NOT more than 8 tablets in a day), 1 1/2 tablets of Flagyl 3xday, to fight the amoeba, and buscopan to stop the tummy cramps. All these are safe to take for breastfeeding moms.

June 30, I was feeling better and wasn't pooping anymore. The next day, I was constipated and my tummy felt weird. Like it was cold inside but I was feeling hot on the outside. The day after that, I was still constipated. I was able to poop the day after.

So today, July 4, I'm feeling good now. Lazy, but good.

Today is also the day, last year, that I found out I was preggy with Guile! Yey! I was about 3 months in, that time. :)

Fluff : does size matter

Hi there! So today I'm going to write about the sizes cloth diapers may come as.

[<3] OSFM

One Size Fits Most.

This is a popular choice. Good to get if you want to save money on diapers because this type of nappy has different sizes you snap on to.

Today's model is my Alva 3.0
On the first 4 photos, you can see it on small setting. This can fit newborns but it depends on the built of your baby.
On the next 2 photos, that is the larger setting, see the snaps on the rise are open. This setting fits my 4-year-old slightly chubby cousin.
On the last photo, the model nappy is placed on the medium rise setting. My baby just turned 5 months last June 19, and I've noticed that the small setting is getting a little tight on my baby and if I turn him on tummy position, I can almost see his but! Guess we will be moving to medium setting soon!
Here is Guile wearing some of his OSFM nappies.

The BabyChic cover is our favorite nappy. This is the first ever nappy we tried. At two days old, we paired this nappy with a lampin.
See our Alvas at different ages. The sunbaby too!
The Kawaii GNHW (Good Night Heavy Wetter). This nappy is from the Aloha collection and this one is the black aloha.

Don't worry everyone, I will give reviews by nappy brand soon!

[<3] One Size

Small, Meduim, Large

There are nappies that are only in one size. This is an example,

My Itti Bitti nappy! This was given by my great friend from highschool who is living in London now. This was my first ever imported nappy! This is an AIO (All In One) nappy, the ones showed on top were pocket nappies. This nappy is sized medium. This nappy was a good fit when baby was around 1 month old but now that he is 5 month old, this nappy looks very sexy on him! Sorry I don't have a recent photo of him wearing it! I hope he won't outgrow this nappy soon :(
One thing about one sized nappies, when the baby outgrows these, you can't use them anymore! But hey, they give great great fit when it still fits him!

Take note, nappies are different by brands so make sure you can see what sizes there are.
There are nappies that are

     [<3] Large OSFM
An example of this is a large cluebebe nappy. I don't have this nappy yet but i will surely post if I have one, maybe soon!
Another example is the Alva Big Diaper, this too is a OSFM nappy. The smallest setting of this is said to be the largest setting of a Alva 4.0 nappy. I don't have this nappy yet too.

     [<3] Newborn OSFM
Newborn nappies, are they worth it? Maybe, if you are expecting a small baby or if you want your newborn to have a good fitting nappy. An example of a newborn OSFM is the Alva Newborn nappy. Don't have this because I opted not to purchase newborn nappies for this baby. Maybe my next, *winkwink*!

Alright! Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for the next post and if you have any post request, please don't hesitate to comment!

Review : Avent Naturals Bottles

I give these bottles 5 stars!

When my baby Guile was born, I was told that I 'did not have milk'. At that time, I did absolutely no research about breastfeeding (because I spent most of the time researching about CD's) when I was pregnant. I thought it was a natural thing. Oh boy, was I wrong. So fast forward, I wanted to exclusively breastfeed my baby but I was told I had no milk by a (stupid) midwife. My parents believed her too, they don't know much about breastfeeding because my mom didn't breastfeed me in the first place (she had an inverted nipple). So after believing the (stupid) midwife, they bought powdered milk and fed Guile through a bottle. BEHIND MY BACK, if I may add. After that, Guile had trouble feeding from my breast because he was already NIPPLE CONFUSED. The bottles we used then were the ones that was bought from the department store, I believe the brands were precious moments and ferlin.

My baby wouldn't feed from me! I was absolutely devastated! After a couple of weeks, we had our check up with the pedia and it turned out that Guile was COLICKY. This meant that Guile has too much air in his tummy. The doctor recommended to get anti-colic bottles, the one she kept repeating was AVENT. Yipee!, I thought. I've always wanted to get Avent bottles!

In the mall, there are Avent ORIGINAL bottles. And they were so expensive! They cost Php1,800++ for a 3 in one pack! But everything in the mall is always so expensive, that's why I shop online! For the Avent Original bottles, I found them online for Php900 the cheapest for the 3 in one pack. Then I found the Avent NATURALS bottle through my research. These collection of bottles are not available in Philippine stores yet.

I got my bottles through, she was a trusted seller and she also had a multiply and Facebook store account. The seller was from Quezon City. I got my Avent Naturals for only P1,250 for a 3 in one pack! Free shipping because I ordered my bottles from multiply and they had the free shipping promo.

I really loved the bottles so I ordered one from the U.S. from my friend, Sheila. I got my 3 in a pack for only Php1,100. This is inclusive of Int'l shipping fee, taxes, and local shipping fee. Yes, it's cheaper if you order from the U.S. If you want these bottles, you can send me a message and maybe I can hook you up!

Why do I love these bottles?

[<3] The form of the nipple.

As you can see, the nipple is shaped like a woman's breast. When Guile started using this bottle, he started latching to my breast perfectly fine without any confusion! This started my breastfeeding journey!

[<3] The bottle design.

This bottle is formed so it's easy for babies to hold their bottle. Guile is 5 months old and he already knows how to hold his bottle! On one side, there is a measurement by milliliters(ml) and on the other side, a measurement by Ounces(oZ) by US and UK measurement.

[<3] The cap

There is this part of the cap that has the finger mould so it's easy for us to open when your baby is panicking and crying. This feature helped me out so much!

[<3] Good bye colic.

This bottle has an advance anti-colic feature. Well, it really works! No more excessive crying for baby Guile!
The Avent Original bottle has an anti-colic feature too.

One thing I don't like about this bottle

[<3] The bottle turns yellowish after a while

Here is a photo comparing my bottles. On your left, you can see that the bottle is yellowish compared to the other one. I got the former bottle when Guile was a month old and the latter bottle last month, when Guile was 4 months old. See the difference? After 3 months of using the first bottle, it turned yellowish. I just noticed this when I received my second pack of bottles. Nevertheless, even though it turned yellowish, it still works well.

I guess that's all I can say for this product! Comment if you have any questions or suggestions! Stay tuned!

Fluff, fluff, fluff!

M O D E R N    C L O T H   D I A P E RS

So in my last post, I talked about my HATE for disposable diapers. Now here's a little something about my lo-lo-lo-looooovvvveeee for cloth diapers!

Why do I choose cloth for my baby?

[<3] They are cheap.
Well, cheap-er than disposable diapers.
China made nappies cost around 200-350 pesos each. Even if you have 100 pieces of these adorable fluffs, you'd still save money than spending on disposable diapers. (Check my post about disposable diaper expenses here)

Take note, you probably need only 12-15 nappies in total to make a rotation. Considering you wash the nappies everyday.

[<3] They are made of cloth.
Disposable diapers are plastic. Your underwear, I presume, is cloth. Am I right? Isn't it comfortable to use every day, every hour, every minute? How would you like it if your underwear was plastic? That would be some funky stuff going down there! Am I right or am I right? So if you use cloth underwear, why not let your baby wear cloth too? Just pure, pure cloth with no chemicals whatsoever.

Just wash used nappies like you wash used underwear. As simple as that! Clean as new and ready to be used again!

[<3] Good for the environment.
These diapers don't get thrown away like trash. When you are done with them, you can save it for your next baby or you can give it to someone else who needs them!

[<3] They are so cute!
There are sooo much different designs to choose from! It would take you months to see all the designs! There are new ones everyday!!
There are some companies or mom nappy makers who accepts custom made nappies, you can actually order a specially made one for your baby with your chosen designs!

[<3] They're so fluffy I wanna dieeeee!!!

Here is my first stash of nappies! I had this around 4 weeks before giving birth. But of course, I have twice the amount now. (insert smug look here). I haven't really taken my updated stash photo yet, but maybe soon.
On this photo, I have 5 plain colored AlvaBaby 3.0, 5 printed AlvaBaby 3.0, 3 AlvaBaby 4.0 (spiderman, zebra, jeans) and 1 MNCP nappy.

I'll make a post dedicated to MCNP (modern cloth nappying pinay) soon.

Stay tuned!

Anti-trash, Anti-disposables

Oh, the never ending debate about disposables VS. cloth.

Team cloth diapers right here!

I am Anti-disposable diapers. Why?

[<3] They are freakishly expensive in the long run. I'm not good with math but I turn to a mathematical wizard when it comes to making formulas about comparing diaper prices.

For example:

Disposable diapers to the power of 2 times X divided by square root of -- lol, I'm just kidding.

Disposable diapers:
There are different brands of disposables, the decent ones cost about 10Php. Let's multiply that, shall we?

Newborns use more or less 10 diapers per day :
10 x 10 = Pho100 (1 day) x 30 = Php3,000(1 month)
Around 7-8 months old, your baby uses around 8 diapers per day :
10  x 8 = Php80 x 30 = Php2,400
Then at around 15 months old, your baby uses more or less 6 diapers :
10 x 6 = Php60 x 30 = Php1,800

And what if your baby isn't potty trained 'til they are 3 years old and they still need to wear diapers at night 'til they're 7!!!
You're spending more or less Php30,000 on disposables each year! That would probably reach a hundred thousand pesos (Php100,000) buy the time they would be semi-potty trained! It's crazy! I'd rather save for a trip to Disneyland with my kids then spend my money on chemical filled plastic! Disposables could lead us to poverty.

[<3] Disposable diapers are just CHEMICAL FILLED PLASTIC.
What? It's true! They even have a chemical that turns your baby's pee into gel! What kind of chemical does that! And do you notice that your baby keeps on having rashes down there? You can thank the chemicals for that. And you're telling me that I'm going to put that disposable onto my baby's bum?!

Kiss my ass.

[<3] Disposables take thousands of YEARS to decompose.
You're dead. Your baby is dead. Your grandchildren are dead. Madonna is dead, and so is Britney Spears. But the disposable diapers you placed on your baby's buttocks a thousand years ago are still rotting on this earth that we call home.

Talk about the polar icecaps melting.

[<3] Cloth diapers are FTW!

Disposables? Good day sir.

Yes, my baby has been wearing cloth diapers EXCLUSIVELY since he was born. Mothers who use disposable diapers for their children often say, "So you just wash all those diapers!" and they ask "How on earth do you do it?"
But I think and ask them too, "What? Disposable diapers! How on earth do YOU do it!"

Guile at a month old. Wearing BabyChic cover nappy.

Fine print : I do not disrespect all you mamas out there using disposable diapers for your children. This post is MY take on why I don't use disposables for MY child.

I will be posting about my love for cloth diapers soon. Stay tuned!

Who on earth am I?

Well, let me introduce myself.

I am Angela Laserna. Born on April 26, 1994 in the Philippines. I am an aspiring pastry chef. My favorite colors are Red and Blue. My favorite movie is Happy Feet <3.

My dream:
One day, I'm going to travel around the world tasting all the food I can taste.

After I finish my studies, I hope to have a pastry shop and name it Beguiled too! Taste my wonderful desserts and be amazed in its heavenly tastes!

I am a teenage breastfeeding, cloth diapering, babywearing mom. I gave birth to my son, Aiden Guile, last January 19, 2013 at 9:26PM. I was 18 years old at that time. Some people judge me because I had a child at a young age, but I don't ever pay attention to those people. My age doesn't affect the way I take care of my baby, right?

Well enough about that. Here is something about my blog:

- means to trick or deceive
- sly
- cunning intelligence

Why did I choose that title? I got inspired by  my sons' name Guile. Why did I name him that, you may ask? Well, it's a long story. I might share it with you someday.

This is actually my first ever blog. I made this blog to give reviews, to give comments, to post about my interests and more. I am NOT an expert blogger, I'm not perfect at creating sentences, and I might make grammatical errors too. The way I write my blogs is going to be like the way I speak, don't say I didn't warn you!

Well, that's all for now. Hope you all will enjoy my blog.

Thanks for reading!
